1. Website content Dab processes
When you explicitly use features such as Scan Page or Inspect Element, Dab temporarily processes website content from the active webpage so it can provide the feature you requested. This can include visible colors, computed element styles, text/background/border colors, SVG fill and stroke colors, basic element labels, the current page hostname, and a short text preview associated with an element you choose to inspect.
This website content is processed locally in your browser. Dab does not transmit the inspected page content to a Dab server or use it for advertising, profiling, or unrelated purposes.
2. Information stored locally
Dab may save your recent color captures, capture history, saved palettes, palette names, selected contrast colors, preferences, source hostname for a capture, and the latest inspected-element result using Chrome extension storage. This information is stored locally to make Dab's user-facing features work between sessions.
3. Data Dab does not collect
Dab does not collect or maintain your web history. It does not create a list of webpages you have visited, track visit times, or monitor your browsing across sites.
Dab also does not log user activity such as mouse movement, scrolling, keystrokes, or general click behavior. Any click or hover used during the Element Inspector is handled only as part of the immediate, user-requested inspection interaction.
Dab does not collect personally identifiable information, health information, financial or payment information, authentication information, personal communications, or precise location data as part of its extension features.
4. Browser permissions
Dab uses a small set of Chrome permissions:
- storage — saves colors, palettes, history, preferences, and related Dab data locally.
- activeTab — provides temporary access to the tab you are actively using after you invoke a Dab feature.
- scripting — allows Dab to run its page scanner or element inspector on the active page when you explicitly request those actions.
Dab does not request broad, always-on access to every website you visit.
5. Remote code
Dab does not use remote code. The executable code required for the extension is packaged with the installed extension and is not downloaded or executed from a remote server.
6. Data transmission
Dab does not operate a cloud account system or remote analytics service for its core extension features. Captured colors, saved palettes, inspected website content, and locally stored extension data are not uploaded to Dab servers.
7. Selling, sharing, advertising, and profiling
Dab does not sell personal data or extension data. Dab does not use or transfer website content, browsing information, captured colors, saved palettes, or other extension data for advertising, profiling, creditworthiness, lending, or purposes unrelated to Dab's single purpose.
8. Chrome Web Store Limited Use
Dab's use of information received from Chrome APIs complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Information accessed through Chrome APIs is used only to provide Dab's user-facing color capture, page scanning, element inspection, palette management, export, and contrast-checking features.
9. Third-party websites
Dab can be used on websites operated by third parties. Those websites have their own privacy practices. This Privacy Policy applies to Dab itself and does not control the practices of websites you visit.
10. Removing locally stored data
You can remove individual colors and palettes from within Dab. Removing the extension from Chrome may also remove its locally stored extension data, subject to Chrome's own storage behavior.
11. Children
Dab is a general-purpose productivity and design utility and is not specifically directed to children under 13.
12. Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if Dab's functionality or data practices change. The latest version will be published on this page with a revised update date.
